Cancer pets can occasionally be over dependant on their owners for affection and attention. They are prone to becoming moody if their simple emotional needs are not met.

Cancer pets need peace, tranquility and above all stability. They are extremely sensitive to any change, so be careful not to suddenly alter their diet. If you do, they are likely to suffer an upset stomach.

Cancer the Crab represents the forth sign of the Zodiac (22 June - 22 July).

The ancient Egyptians identified Cancer as the sacred scarab beetle, a symbol of resurrection and immortality (mummies often had a carving of the scarab in place of the heart).

The second labor of Hercules was to slay the many-headed monster called the Hydra. Hera, queen of the gods, sent a crab to bite Hercules' heel while he was struggling with his task. Hercules crushed the crab with his foot (which may explain why Cancer the Crab is the hardest constellation to see – it contains no bright stars).

If Cancer did not lie on the Ecliptic (and thus be integral to the Zodiac), the constellation would simply be considered an ordinary group of stars. It is home to the Beehive / Praesepe complex of star clusters.

The three Water sings (Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces) are renowned for their intuitiveness.
